Each goat is approximately 3 inches by 5 inches and carved by hand with much detail. Below you can see an animated drawing which shows the goats in action.
When the connecting rod below the goats is shifted back and forth, the goats take turns stomping on the block. It appears that they are butting each other but they never touch. A clicking noise is made when their feet come down on the block.
 
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
This is a rather uncommon folk toy that I enjoy making. The one pictured below is carved from black walnut and can be purchased for $65.
